More Kachin Refugees Return Amid Clashes

More Kachin Refugees Return Amid Clashes | The Irrawaddy Magazine.

A friend has asked prayers for these Kachin refugees–they are not so widely known as the Karen, many of whom live in Thailand, and among whom the Anglican Church of Myanmar and the Anglican Church of Singapore have a visible presence and witness.

The Kachin are from the north of Myanmar, and as many as 10,000 have fled Myanmar for safety in China.  As with the Karen in the south, many of the Kachin want political independence and have engaged in an armed resistance against the Myanmar government.

China apparently is changing its stance and beginning to push refugees to return to Myanmar.  There are brothers and sisters among the Kachin:  pray for them for wisdom, courage, and strength.  They must navigate changing circumstances even as they seek to bring news of hope and new life to those who are pushed and pressed all about.  Thank you.
